For those we love
I have a goal. That goal is to raise $300 in less than three weeks. Many of us know someone who has breast cancer or we have lost someone to it. For me on a personal level, I have a grandmother who has fought and gone into remission only to have it continue to return. She is considered terminal now and we know her days are limited. While I know what it is like to have a family member still fighting, I cannot imagine the pain of losing one. Especially your mother. This is exactly what happened to two girls that I grew up with. Their mother was a good friend of my mother and I can honestly say that she had one of those personalities that just lit up a room. She fought so hard and got the news of remission! Then a horrible thing happened, the cancer came back. This time there was no long battle, it hit her quick and took her away too soon. The pain I saw in her families eyes was truly heartbreaking and if I can do anything to try and prevent a future family from going through this, I will. That is why I am pledging to wear my turnout gear (coat, pants and helmet) for the entire race if I can reach my goal of $300 in less than three weeks. So please if you're able to donate even just $5, it would make all the difference. If you want to see me sweat my butt off, then please donate as much as possible to make that happen! Breast cancer is a horrible thing so let's do what we can to fight back for our loved ones!
